Naturally Lighten Skin

New Skin Lightening Remedies Are Chemical Free Too

naturally lighten skinBeing brutally honest, it’s very unlikely you will get either fast or dramatic results if you are looking to naturally lighten skin using lemon juice rather than go the chemical route.

Turmeric is another ingredient used by manufacturers of commercial skin lightening remedies and so is bearberry extract, but used at home it’s a slow process. Why? Partly because extracts need a “conveyer” into the skins epidermis which manufacturers add to the creams, but of course at home we can’t.

Faster, safer and chemical free are the new natural plant extract skin lightening creams, non of which contain  Hydroquinone – unless they say otherwise.

Big pharmaceutical companies have invested billions into researching and producing plant extract based medicines, because they work. Many of the skin lightening remedies only use plant extracts and they are very effective.

However, for those of you looking to avoid chemicals and commercial creams, the recipes below are tried and tested. If you use them regularly, particularly the acne mask, you will see positive results and even better clearer skin if you use an electronic or  battery powered face brush.

Lemon juice and Apple Cider Vinegar both have recognized safe skin lightening properties and powerful healing effects, so please don’t be afraid to use them. But if you haven’t used either before, dilute the given quantity with water first – and do a patch test first.

Whatever you put on your skin, including prescription medication, I’d advice you to always do a small patch test on the inside of your wrist or the delicate skin behind your ear. Give it 24 hours and with no bad reaction, you’re good to go.

Face mask’s and skin lightening remedies both work better if you gently exfoliate before applying. On sensitive skin or where acne is an issue I’d leave the home remedies in the cupboard and choose specific facial exfoliation products for dry and sensitive skin, they are less likely to aggravate acne too – go read the post, I’ll still be here!

Special gentle creams have rounded synthetic sphere in them to gently rub away dead skin as opposed to sandpapering it off. But once you’ve done that, you’re ready to rock with the homemade facials.

If you have an egg sensitivity then exclude eggs, try using mashed avocado instead. You can mix up these natural ingredients pretty much anyway you want, to make your own custom face mask tailored to your skin without worrying about allergic reactions. – but still do that patch test!

Working Mom’s Rescue Remedy

For a fast and blissful skin cooler, take one tablespoon of natural yoghurt and mix with one tablespoon of mashed or pureed cucumber.

Chill for a further 10 minutes and use. Keeps in the fridge for a day or two, just stir before using.

Face Masks Recipes

All Skin Types

Aloe Vera & Avocado Healing Cooler

This simple face mask hydrates, heals, soothes and feels wonderful if you have acne.

Either buy or take a leaf from your plant and split it, then scrape the gel out. You can use cucumber instead of avocado or just add it in as well.

2 tablespoons Aloe Vera gel

1/2 mashed avocado and/or 1/2 cucumber

Mix together and spread on your face, neck and wherever you need to.

Leave on for 30 minutes or longer if you like up to an hour. Rinse in cool water and moisturise.

Oat & Aloe Vera Scrub

Adding oats gives an exfoliating effect and leaves your skin feeling soft, smooth and rejuvenated.  You can use cucumber instead of the aloe vera but not with the same healing effect. This quantity is enough for the face only – increase as required.

1 tablespoon Aloe Vera gel

2 teaspoons of oats

1 egg white

Mix together and spread on your face, neck and wherever you need to.

Leave on for 30 minutes or longer if you like up to an hour.

Rinse in cool water and moisturise.

1 large/2 small Egg Whites (separate and put yolks aside)

Mix together, adding oats until you get the right consistency to stay on your skin.

Apply and leave on for 5 or even 10 minutes, rinse and pat dry.

If your skin is dry, try adding a teaspoon of honey or mashed avocado.

Warm a spoon then dip into solid honey, wait until soft then mix in well.

Honey & Banana

1 mashed banana

1 teaspoon of honey

½ teaspoon Apple Cider Vinegar – dilute with water first if you wish

Add the honey to the mashed banana and add the Apple Cider Vinegar.

Apply to your face for 15 minutes, before rinsing with cool water and finish with a steaming warm face cloth.

Oily Skin

½ cup oats

1 tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar

1 teaspoon Honey

Combine, and apply as a mask. Leave for up to 10 minutes then rinse and moisturise.

The Acne Buster

Below is the most popular acne beating face mask around and the most talked about on the Internet. Best of all dermatologists recommend it too. Don’t expect immediate results, it takes weeks of regular application, but if you stick with this, it really works.

1 – 3 crushed aspirin – it must be aspirin (crush between two spoons if you have no pestle and mortar to grind it up with)

Add a drop or two of water and mix until a paste is formed.

Add a teaspoon of honey Add a level teaspoon of facial moisturizer or natural oil such as almond, coconut or olive oil

Mix together and apply as a face mask.

Leave for 10 – 15 minutes, rinse thoroughly and dry, then moisturize preferably with a specialist acne cream.
